e. Team functioning

Effective team functioning will be crucial if your project is to achieve its objectives. However, there are likely to be differing interests, opinions and interpretations of key terms amongst team members. These will need to be managed to reach a consensus position. This can take some time to work through.

To support your team to develop into an effectively functioning unit, it helps to spend time early on clarifying and reaching agreement on:

  • the particular roles and responsibilities of all members; and
  • the basic processes that will underpin your working together.
