Measurement and Review >> Deciding on the
evidence-based measures
d. Other data sources
Some aspects of your agreed evidence
framework may be difficult to transform
into indicators, even though the project
believes these to be important, for example
the effectiveness or cultural appropriateness
of the communication between clinician
and patient.
Your project may consider supplementing
the agreed set of indicators with other
approaches to obtain feedback about clinical
care. These might include:
- Conducting focus groups with patients;
and/or
- Patient surveys.

Your project may also want to understand clinicians attitudes
towards evidence-based practice, guidelines, multidisciplinary care,
etc. This might involve a clinician survey that could have multiple
purposes, for example:
- to inform the design of interventions
to improve practice; and/or
- to gauge the impact of the project
over time in the care system (through
re-administration of the survey and
comparison with the baseline picture).
