Identifying the evidence-base for better practice will be assisted by access to national clinical guidelines in which evidence has been systematically collated. Such guidelines do not exist for all patient groups, however, so some projects will need to collate available evidence into a coherent framework. In either case, it is important that:

• Local agreement is reached about the evidence base; and
  
• The wider project team has been consulted during this process.
