c. Avoid searching for the 'perfect' indicators

Indicators are intended to be approximate quality measures, not stringent research instruments. Choose indicators that demonstrate sufficient (not perfect) levels of validity, reliability, responsiveness, interpretability and clinical relevance and actionability.

 

 
 
  • If you consider that an indicator is meaningful enough for clinicians to accept and act on it, then go with it.


  • In choosing your indicators, an endless search for perfect (instead of sufficiently good) data may jeopardise your project�s momentum and cohesion.
